Spring is almost upon us, but let’s be honest – even in winter, the weather in El Puerto de Santa María is good enough to enjoy the city on two wheels.
With many pedestrianised streets, and an extensive network of cycle paths, there really in no excuse not to venture out and explore the surroundings on a bicycle (rentals available from several local businesses).
From Casa Nº 6, the Puntilla beach is just a 5 minute ride. And the never-ending beach of Valdelagrana is also within a leisurely 10 minute ride thanks to level with practically no hills to contend with.
Monuments are also easy to travel between – as well as the bodegas (just remember not to drink and drive!), and there is even an app available (http://ccaelpuerto.es/app.php) to help you find the well marked cycle routes, as well as a web page: http://campus.elpuertosostenible.es/rutas to plan your route before you leave your room.
For the more adventurous, there are also plenty of trails to head out an explore on mountain bike that will take you the fantastic scenery of El Puerto and allow you to get a first hand view of the extensive vineyards, sunflower and cotton fields (depending on the season) that spread across the land between here and Jerez.
